New Blog Thought

Due to the overwhelming protest of blog destruction, the staff is considering a new blog idea.
- A Group Blog
If there is enough interest, a "friends of the blog" blog can be started. Those who want to participate will have access to the blog and can publish posts. Here are possible preliminary guidelines:
1. Posts should be brief and spiffy.
a. Photos are encouraged, especially creative and experimental attempts.
b. Written posts should be "news-worthy"* and/or witty.
c. No long, boring rants or political issues.
2. Participants should aim to publish a post at least once a week.
3. Participants can choose to be identified by a code name
If you are interested in joining this venture, please submit your application** to:
mpgottlieb@msn.com
If enough qualified applicants are interested, the blog will be created, and successful applicants will receive the top secret log-in information.
*if you are a blog follower, you know what is considered news-worthy
**application - in one sentence, describe what talants you could bring to the blog.

The most stessful part of a wedding is...

The tables!
Hours of planning go into debates on how many, where to put them, etc - who knew the whole wedding revolves around the table decisions.

Consumerism

How easily we can get sucked into thinking we need more gadgets in our kitchen. People right here on Bainbridge Island must think they need these specialized items in their kitchen.

First of all, peeling onions is such a hardship on the eyes, we need protective eyewear.

Then we need to buy these special cooking rubber bands.

And CORN! You can't just grab a cob and eat it.
You need corn holders, or a corn zipper

And everyone at the table better have their individual corn dish

and don't use your butter dish, you need a plastic yellow squeeze bottle for melted butter. And look, a corn cutter and creamer.

Graters. You need a different kind depending on what you are grating. Cheese, spices, chocolate, nuts etc.
Don't get them confused.

OK let's get serious. A piecrust tamper. Now that I think about it, how have I ever made pie crust without one??

In fact here are several pie making gadgets that I haven't used.

OK I did once buy cloth rolling pin covers, which are supposed to prevent the dough from sticking to the rolling pin. Well, it did do that, the dough stuck to the cover instead, then I had to wash the cover!
We would have less clutter in our kitchens if we kept things simple and used the basic tools, like hands and a knife.
Much easier to clean, too.
