It took enormous restraint for Lucy to hold still long enough for me to take a picture. Today I took her on errands to two banks, and as all dogs know, the purpose of going to the bank is to stand in line for dog biscuits. Then there was a quick stop at the bakery for the purpose of getting another dog biscuit and while we were there we got some human cookies.

Sorry about your poor little car. You-know-who is very sorry.

Becky had another volleyball match yesterday. Naturally they won. They are 7 and 0 so far this season. (OK, you're right - I took this picture a few months ago.)

Sunday
Another afternoon of boogy-boarding. The waves were higher today. The same guy making an elaborate sand castle was working again. I think it is somehow his job.

Saturday
Liz and Jessica both come over. We make an expedition to the bookstore to pick up Gwen's textbooks. Naturally Jessica knows all the protocal and strategy for this process as well as the supplemental books that will be needed.

Hopefully whoever is doing the construction in the middle of campus knows what they are doing.

More Friday Afternoon
We register Gwen's bike and Jessica shows us where all of Gwen's classes will be.

I took this picture for Norm. Maybe this was one of the original buildings? (fourth picture down)

Friday afternoon
Jessica comes over again to help organize Gwen's room. She takes us to WalMart to get supplies that we need. We have dinner at Red Robin and Gwen has a mushroom burger, which was so filling that she felt ill.

Thursday/Friday morning
We thought Gwen had the easy schedule because her orientation went from 9 to 11. At some point, I realized that meant 9am to 11pm. What a dirty trick - the parents are supposed to unload and unpack by themselves?! I lured Jessica over to help me unload the car, pick out Gwen's side of the room, make the bed and hang up clothes.

The next morning we have residence hall breakfast. Gwen convinces me to behave and attend my sessions, which do turn out to be good.

Thursday
The first day of the parent orientation. Student orientation as well. I found it boring, it was all stuff I already knew from their website, or from our campus tour, or it was stuff I didn't need to know. One session discussed the meal plan details and I noticed other parents taking notes!! Are they weird or am I a bad parent. I cut the next session and wandered around looking at some of the great outdoor artwork on campus.

I think this is artwork, but I can't be sure.

The very cool library is named after Theodore Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss). It is worth it to go to school here just for the library.

Wednesday at Jessica's
She reviews Gwen's school schedule online.

We are reunited with JT who has been in a coma-like situation for the last 25 years. So he is unfamiliar with Japanese food and was skeptical about eating raw fish or soup with seaweed in it. So we were proud of him for being adventurous. He finds going to the hardware store overwhelming, so going somewhere like WalMart will have to wait until he becomes acclimated.

Tuesday
We spend the night at Diana's house. After a delicious dinner of pasta and authentic Greek salad, we go to an ice cream social at James & Jesso's school. Jesso shows us where she gets a drink of water. The next morning Diana and I go for a hike while Gwen sleeps in.

Monday
A REALLY long day of driving, but arrive at Ginny's about 8, just in time for her famous lasagna. After dinner we play Lindsay's new game. Their dog, Murray has a good spot to relax.

Sunday
We get to Gloria's house and Garrett kindly lets us sleep in in his room. Wayde made a great Indian chicken dish for dinner. (I got his recipes.) Gwen played Skip-bo with Garrett and Heather while Cooper the dog relaxes nearby. This was after dinner and after our other outdoor activities.
