Happy Birthday to Robbie (again)

Thank you, whoever borrowed my camera and took this nice picture.

Jason has everyone fascinated. I think he is describing his training regime for the upcoming Vancouver marathon.

Judy (who's actual birthday is today!) helps light the candles for the life-sized birthday cake of Rob.

...everybody sings...

...he blows out the candles...

...we all eat cake - is that Hannah???

Yes, indeed it is!

Jonathan, looking very sharp, stops in and tells Hannah to behave.

Horrible crimes on Bainbridge Island
April 22, at 11:28 a.m. A Janelle Place resident reported vandalism on his property. Sometime during the night, someone placed several PLASTIC FORKS on his front lawn. There was no damage, and the incident appeared to be a prank.

Dinner at Four Swallows

I wanted to take a picture of Michael, but Niva said, due to unfortunate circumstances, he was in the kitchen washing dishes and
consequently was not likely to look very happy in a photograph.

Guess how far they can run??? A fundraiser for their track club was the inspiration.

James ran over 20 laps - so, like 5 miles! Watch for him at the next 10k race.

And this little pumpkin ran about 3 miles!
(I'm not bragging, but they are my niece and nephew)

Happy Birthday to Cleo
She didn't want her age disclosed, but she does get "mature-dog" dog food. For her birthday, she got to go on the trampoline (too scarey) and go for a walk.

Like Summer
A surprisingly beautiful day means time to do yard work. Go for a bike ride. And guacamole and barbecued gardenburgers.

Is it just me or does something look weird about Becky's mouth?

Saturday
Back home. Becky has recovered in time for weekend fun, but I was not quick enough to snap her picture during the ten minutes we were home together.

Friday
We rent a tandum bicycle and ride to Carmel along the 17-mile drive. Now I know why Becky liked riding on back of the tandum we had in Anacortes. You don't need to pay attention to traffic or shifting gears - you don't even need to hold on! You can take pictures while bicycling! ... and watch the famous sites go by (the lone cypress, the ghost tree, etc.), since of course we do not stop.

Lunch in Carmel-by-the-Sea

I talked Dan into getting the delicious crab special which he really liked, and he didn't even mind that Roxanne, our waitress tied on a bib.

Thursday afternoon
Finally Dan can do something fun and we go to the aquarium.

Today's top lecturers
Dan talks with his hands - no podium or power point. It was a fascinating sequel to a previous lecture (Introduction to bonds)

John and Ann also had a stupendous lecture. I didn't actually get to hear John talk, but he did an excellent job of advancing the power point on cue. Ann did a clear job of explaining group net dispersements.

Black and white infrared scenes in Monterey.

In Monterey.
At last I can post pictures to my blog. (Thanks to Donna)

Judy enjoys a noodle dinner. She was the first speaker at the meeting, and by all reports it was very well recieved.

We had a fabulous dinner last night out at the pier. Pictured are Donna and John.
John and Dan are both giving talks shortly. I'll have to spy on both of them.

There are some great file photos on this computer. I do miss my cute laptop, though.

The Smiths have a party for the Whites

Fashion designer, model and editor, Mel always outdoes everyone else.

While Marty cooks, Dean fills him in on the latest style in menswear. Apparently the red and white striped seersucker suit is selling quite well on the east coast. Polka dot ties are so last year though.

Cathy is the perfect hostess!

Jacki flounces into the room sporting the latest in college attire.

Jackie is so happy to see her sister.

Maybe too happy?

Poor Dean. These girls really critiqued his designer jeans. He probably purposely wore a Bainbridge disguise and left those pastel shirts with french cuffs and Windsor collars at home.

Otis envy

Cleo reminded me that her birthday is in two weeks. She showed me something she had picked out from a dog supply catalog - a raised dog bowl holder decorated in a "charming naif style" - and only $200! "Hah!" I said. "Who would get that for their dog?"
