It took enormous restraint for Lucy to hold still long enough for me to take a picture. Today I took her on errands to two banks, and as all dogs know, the purpose of going to the bank is to stand in line for dog biscuits. Then there was a quick stop at the bakery for the purpose of getting another dog biscuit and while we were there we got some human cookies.

Saturday
Liz and Jessica both come over. We make an expedition to the bookstore to pick up Gwen's textbooks. Naturally Jessica knows all the protocal and strategy for this process as well as the supplemental books that will be needed.
Hopefully whoever is doing the construction in the middle of campus knows what they are doing.

Thursday/Friday morning
We thought Gwen had the easy schedule because her orientation went from 9 to 11. At some point, I realized that meant 9am to 11pm. What a dirty trick - the parents are supposed to unload and unpack by themselves?! I lured Jessica over to help me unload the car, pick out Gwen's side of the room, make the bed and hang up clothes.
The next morning we have residence hall breakfast. Gwen convinces me to behave and attend my sessions, which do turn out to be good.
Thursday
The first day of the parent orientation. Student orientation as well. I found it boring, it was all stuff I already knew from their website, or from our campus tour, or it was stuff I didn't need to know. One session discussed the meal plan details and I noticed other parents taking notes!! Are they weird or am I a bad parent. I cut the next session and wandered around looking at some of the great outdoor artwork on campus.
I think this is artwork, but I can't be sure.
The very cool library is named after Theodore Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss). It is worth it to go to school here just for the library.
We are reunited with JT who has been in a coma-like situation for the last 25 years. So he is unfamiliar with Japanese food and was skeptical about eating raw fish or soup with seaweed in it. So we were proud of him for being adventurous. He finds going to the hardware store overwhelming, so going somewhere like WalMart will have to wait until he becomes acclimated.
