Never Ending Hike

I should have known it was more than a leisurely walk along the coast where we might sit and admire the views. Dan planned the hike, so there was no time to stop if we wanted to get back before dark.
"See those two point up ahead - we just go aroud those two points and then we can get off the trail and onto the road, only minutes away."
"Oh, wait, now that I look at the map again, we are only NOW at the point I thought we were earlier. So we have two more points to go around. Maybe three."
